Job Description:

Job Title: Trainee Apprentice

Salary: £6.50 – £10.00 per hour

Hours of work: 40 hours (Full-time)

Location: Colindale, NW9 6SE

Responsibilities and Duties

• Have an understanding of children’s development, their needs and the provision of positive play
• Care for and supervise the group of children assigned to them.
• Ensure their safety at all times.
• Take an interest in the children and their families, to treat them as individuals and with respect at all times.
• Create an interesting and stimulating environment for the child to develop all their skills.
• Provide at all times a warm and caring environment for babies and to be as consistent as possible regarding that environment.
• Provide support for any children with special needs and to liaise with senior members of staff to promote their welfare and development.
• Ensure positive management of children’s behaviour.
• Ensure the ethos, implementation and legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
• Support a commitment to the theory and practice of equal opportunities.
• Ensure an adherence to the health and safety policy relating to the provision of play.
• Support senior members of staff to put appropriate Child Protection procedures into practice.
• Be flexible and adaptable, to assist in all areas of nursery work and to provide support for other members of staff.
• Assist in the keeping of development records and observations, and accident, incident, and risk assessment records as appropriate.
• Attend staff meetings and training courses as directed by senior managers.
• Attend regular out of hours training sessions as directed by course tutors in order to complete Level 2 / 3 Early Years Qualification.

• For the Level 3 Apprenticeship 15-18 months (including end point assessment)

End-point assessment organisation: TQUK

Certification: 

• The Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (TQUK). Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard. Level 1 & upskill to level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths;
• For The Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s Workforce, Level 3 Early Years Educator, Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths.

Entry requirements

• In paid employment (Working for a minimum of 16 hours per week)
• Live in the UK or EEA/EU for the last 3+years (With a valid form of ID)
• Not be using any other government funding (College, University or online training courses)
• Apprentices without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to take the tests for this level prior to taking the end-point Assessment
• For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and Maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3
• Be able to commit to the full course duration and meet the programme modules through your job role
