Accreditation

In 2023, the MAA Montessori Accreditation was established with the goal of assessing nurseries’ adherence to Montessori principles and granting them the “true” Montessori Nursery label.

Nurseries are required to undertake a two-part process to cultivate a Montessori culture deeply integrated into their environment.

Part one: The Montessori Inspector appointed by MAA conducts a thorough evaluation of various aspects, including Montessori staff training, professional development, work cycle implementation, and provision of well-resourced Montessori materials.

Part two:The Montessori Inspector then prepares a comprehensive report following a full day visit to the nursery to observe Montessori practice, which is shared with the staff and parents. Following successful completion of the accreditation the nursery is awarded a logo valid for 3 years.

How does it work?

After submitting your toolkit, you will be visited by a Montessori Inspector. If you meet all our criteria, you will receive an Accreditation stamp and a written report. This stamp will prove that you are a true Montessori by MAA standards. This stamp and report can be shared with parents and on advertising material.

What are the benefits to us?

The scheme helps to work towards a quality benchmark and improve the outcomes for the children in your setting. Staff ultimately become motivated and proud to apart of the process.

We will also publish our accredited settings on our website and send our students to do their placement with you.

How long does it take?

You can start the process at any time. We will send you a toolkit to complete, which is a working document that needs to be filled out by the management and staff team. Once we receive the toolkit and feel you are ready for your visit, it will be booked in with one of our Montessori Inspectors.

Is there any criteria that we need to meet before applying?

At least 50% of staff in ratios need to be qualified in Montessori and/or be in active Montessori CPD.

We also have a checklist of the required Montessori equipment.

How much does the accreditation cost?

The cost to do the accreditation with us is only £599+VAT.

How long is the accreditation valid for?

The accreditation is valid for three years from the date of Accreditation.
