22nd April is Earth day! Horraaay!
In the early years of a child, we focus on giving them the foundation they need to thrive.
Children love nature and everything around, so it is important for them to learn how to protect the planet from things like pollution and devastation.
By taking part in activities like planting a tree, recycling, and implementing a cosmic plan in your settings or at home, will help the children to become true world citizens and humans that are able to make a significant contribution to the future well being of mankind.
Today, 22nd April 2022, we are celebrating Earth Day.
Earth Day was founded by a U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson, after witnessing the ravages of the massive 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, California.
It is one of the largest civic events in the world, celebrated by close to 1 billion people every year. Throughout the week and on April 22 itself, groups of people from all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities will join together for festivals, rallies, and environmental activities which build community awareness and activism.
Dr Maria Montessori envisaged that through the child and their varied, real, and concrete experiences, we would be able to influence and create a more caring mankind. She believed that if children were treated with love and respect, they too, as adults, would view the world in a positive and caring way.
Through exposure to the Cultural area, the child would begin to see the inter relation between the subject as in the natural world and how man can influence and look after his/her world.
