Our Accreditation Standards

Over 50% Montessori Trained Staff

At least 50% of staff in ratio must hold or be working toward an accredited Montessori qualification.

Prepared Montessori Environment

At least 90% authentic, complete, accessible, and developmentally appropriate Montessori materials.

Montessori Curriculum Depth

Settings must provide a full range of Montessori materials across all core areas, with uninterrupted work cycles.

Commitment to Quality

Settings show a commitment to improvement through planning systems, staff development, and Montessori tracking tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Montessori Accreditation with MAA is designed for nurseries that follow or aspire to follow authentic Montessori principles. It recognises settings that align with Montessori values while meeting EYFS standards.

You should have Montessori-trained staff (or staff working towards training), Montessori materials in use, and a commitment to reflective practice. You’ll also need to complete our self-assessment toolkit.

From toolkit submission to final report, the process typically takes between 12–18 weeks, depending on your readiness and scheduling availability for the assessor visit.

Accreditation lasts for 3 years. During this period, settings are expected to continue their commitment to Montessori principles and staff development.

Our assessor will observe practice, review documentation, and speak with team members. It’s a collaborative, supportive process focused on celebrating strengths and identifying areas for growth, we’re not trying to catch you out.

Yes. If your setting doesn’t meet all requirements initially, we provide a report with recommendations and support you through the steps needed to reach accreditation.

Our Montessori Accreditation starts from £599 (depending on nursery size), we primarily take payment via BACs or Bank Transfer but we do also offer Stripe.

Accredited settings receive the official MAA Stamp of Accreditation and a printed Accreditation Certificate to proudly display in their nursery and website. You’ll also be featured on our website as an approved Montessori setting, giving families and professionals added confidence in your quality.
